Purple Day

Sunday, March 31, 2013

Today we held our purple day event at Caitlin's Retreat. Thank you so much for allowing us to use your wonderful venue. I have attached a photo of some of our children with Joffa Corfe (collingwood football club) dressed as purple man to promote epilepsy awareness.
front row: Tara, Ronan, Jasmine
Back row: Sean, Joffa (purple man), Cassandra, Daniel

All the kids/ teens in the photo other than Jasmine have Epilepsy. Tara,Ronan and Sean have uncontrolled epilepsy. Daniel and Cassandra have better control but do still have seizures. Places like Caitlin's retreat allow us to have a picnic with the knowledge that when something does happen there is a bed to rest in and access able toilet makes it so much easier. And with so many absconders it was fantastic with the fully enclosed yard.

We are hoping to make this an annual event and will be in contact in coming months to organise again for next year.

Our Beautiful Deck

Friday, January 11, 2013

Finally after many years of planning, we have a beautiful large deck along the front of the house for families to take in the serenity of the environment in a safe enclosed area. Thanks to Smiffy and the vehicle engineering team at Ford Motor Company for helping with construction.

Another Happy Family

Saturday, October 13, 2012

Please also send a huge thank you to Manny for hosting us in July.

This was the first time in a long time we have been able to go away as a family and really all enjoy it….and I think it is the first time EVER that I have been able to shower Tara without getting saturated myself, what a wonderful disabled bathroom – so want one this good for home.  It was wonderful to be able to include our disabled child in activities as simple as the swing…..even if I did get the key stuck…sorry. Normally holidays involve many hours on the phone trying to locate a venue that kinda resembles disabled friendly and then  they usually charge through the nose for the extra services .  Only you usually get there and there is a step up or the toilet is so small that tara cant possibly get in there with her walking frame or wheelchair let alone the assistance dog. Caitlin’s Retreat was perfect the disabled facilities were fantastic and the playground a real hit. We didn’t need to go out if we didn’t want too.
